Weekly News 2

This Week
This week we did different activities that used our names. Some of our activities included graphing the letters we use to write our name, graphing the number of letters in our name and making rainbow names with torn paper. In math we started our sorting unit. We practiced sorting objects by color, size, and their shape.

Homework

We will be starting our Fast Start homework next week. The poems and activities will come home each Wednesday. Please remember that you have a whole week to finish the homework.  You should only spend 5 to 7 minutes a day working on the activities. You do not need to return any of the papers. Thank you!

Reminders

Please have your child keep toys from home out of the book bags.  We will start show and share in September so they will have an opportunity to share then.

Book Orders

Each month I will send home a Scholastic book order. Scholastic has a great variety of books at a very reasonable price.  If you would like to order you may do it online. Our class code is GLGCN.

Class Directory
I will be sending home the class directory next week. If you would like your child to be included on it please fill out the form (class directory). Thank you!

Yes, David!

We read No, David and talked about the rules of the classroom and playground. The students then made their own David and wrote what he could do. Here is our new version of the story.

Mrs. Schmeckpeper's Classroom Newsletter

Our class had a great first week of school! We learned our daily routine and all about the
school and classroom rules.

Check out our "First Day Fun" video.

Thank you to all the parents who came to the kindergarten orientation. I enjoyed meeting all of you.

If you have not had a chance to fill our our volunteer forms or class directory please click on the links below.

Volunteer Information

B.E.E. Folders:
Please remember to check the B.E.E. folder daily for important notes. If you haven't filled out the First Day letter in the B.E.E. folder please send it on Monday.

If you would like to donate special materials for our classroom please check out our Giving Tree right outside our classroom.

Class Book:
Next week we will start sending home class books. These books will be written and illustrated by our class. Please take the time to let your child show off their hard work. These books should be returned the next day so all the students get a chance to take the books home in a timely manner.

Independence:
A big part of kindergarten is becoming independent. Please encourage your child to walk to the classroom independently in the mornings. We have several teachers and school staff supervising the hallways to help all the students get to their room safely.

Thank you!
